About the role
We are looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer / Data Specialist to join our growing, dynamic team and help reshape the future of the restaurant industry in the US and Canada.
At Tekarsh Bangladesh, we believe the people who build and optimize a company's data layer are more than number-crunchers, they are innovators, problem-solvers, and creators of change. Your contribution will directly impact thousands of restaurants across the US and Canada. In this role, you'll turn our growing data sets into clear, trustworthy answers that internal teams rely on every day and, just as importantly, you'll design and optimize the data models and pipelines that make those answers fast, reliable, and reusable, helping restaurants adapt, grow, and thrive while directly improving the efficiency of restaurant owners.
The system is cloud-hosted on AWS, and our data layer is built on a modern data lakehouse architecture with Snowflake and dbt at its core. You'll work deep in that stack, writing SQL, designing and optimizing dbt models, tuning for performance and cost, and delivering data through our BI tools, bringing strong engineering habits like version control, code review, and CI/CD to everything you build.
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve our dbt models with a focus on performance, cost, and maintainability - driving optimization strategies, refactoring, and sound modeling patterns as our data volumes and complexity grow.
- Build reports and answer data questions for internal customers across the company, using our reporting infrastructure and data warehouse to curate data and surface trends and patterns that support daily operations.
- Partner with stakeholders to understand their questions, translate them into the right analysis, and deliver clear, accurate answers they can act on.
- Help determine and document the meaning behind our standard vocabulary at the company and ensure there is only one correct answer to any given question. If someone speaks about churn or revenue growth, we need to all mean the same thing and have one authoritative place to go for the answer.
- Learn the client’s data model deeply, and help guide the development of a lakehouse data model that supports reporting on the company's strategic initiatives.
- Be an active participant in our code review process for reports and dbt models - both submitting
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a strongly technical analytics/BI role
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or technical field (statistics, mathematics, economics, computer science, or a business analytics program) preferred
- Strong proficiency in SQL (required)
- Hands-on experience building, maintaining, and optimizing models in dbt, including performance and cost tuning (required)
- A genuine coding background - you have written and shipped real code and can demonstrate solid engineering fundamentals. We're flexible on language: Python, R, Java, or JavaScript all count (required)
- Familiarity with data lakehouse architectures (e.g., Snowflake, Trino/Athena, Databricks) and the tradeoffs involved in modeling and querying at scale (required)
- Comfortable working with version control (Git) and familiar with the basics of CI/CD — branching, pull requests, and how changes get tested and deployed (required)
- Experience with Preset, Superset, or a comparable modern BI/visualization platform, with a solid understanding of how to design clear, accurate charts and dashboards (required)
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex data to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving skills and a genuine interest in finding patterns and trends within data
